Bank Of America Modifies 12,700 Mortgages

Bank of America said it quadrupled the number of modified mortgages for its customers in the past month.

The number of Bank of America mortgages modified through the government’s Home Affordable Modification Program rose to 12,700 from 3,200 a month ago. Another 13,700 modifications are pending. The program was designed to lower mortgage payments to help Americans keep their homes.

Bank of America shares rose 65 cents, or 4.5 percent, to $15.10 in afternoon trading.
